Mme Michelle has had a passion for education from the moment she tutored her first student in 2008, using an office in her parents house. It quickly became apparent that there was a need for greater supports for French Immersion students in Newfoundland and Labrador. Only a university student herself at the time, Mme Michelle sought out other young people who wanted to make a difference and promote bilingualism. French For Life was formally incorporated in 2012 and, ever since, they have been offering educational activities, programs and community events to help students develop the tenacity that it takes to learn a new language.
Mme Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in French, a Bachelor of Education, as well as a Masters in Educational Leadership. Her experience spans both the English as well as the Francophone school boards (NLESD and CSFP). She has worked both as a classroom teacher as well as a special education teacher. She has also participated in work groups through the Department of Education that provided feedback for the province's Responsive Teaching and Learning Policy.
The creation of French For Life truly has been a calling for Mme Michelle, who is, at her core, a teacher who loves to see her students learn and succeed.
